Harlan and Jeffrey had a great time in Vegas talking about VO success. The audience was very receptive and asked some great questions. And they got to see Harlan’s new PortaBooth Pro in action. And our book signing was fun even if the numbers were low, and far too many people thought we worked there and asked us questions about the bookstore (bathroom is two doors down on your right!).
This presentation was given by Jeffrey P. Fisher and Harlan Hogan at the Post-Production World Conference at NAB 2010.
Harlan and Jeffrey will be speaking at NAB on April 14. Watch this site for a special presentation on that day.
Today’s audio software can be really complicated:
Thankfully, for most VO work you do not need the sophistication. A simple piece of software that lets you record, edit, and save your audio files is all you need. Check out Fisher’s fav: Sony Sound Forge Pro (and even the light, consumer Audio Studio will work fine.) The quality comes from the mic, preamp, and audio interface and NOT the software anyway.
So, do yourself a favor and forego the bells and whistles and get something simpler. Then you can concentrate on what you do best: Voice Acting!
What software are YOU using? And why?
Harlan and Jeffrey will be speaking at NAB’s Post-Production World conference on Wednesday, April 14 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The title of this in-depth session is Voice-Over Success. Hope to see you there!

My new computer runs super fast for just pennies a day. Though it voided my warranty, I wanted to open it up and snap a picture so you can see the secret to my powerful computing.
